It's the beginning of June and things are s-l-o-w-l-y moving to recovery stage-but will not be normal, if ever for years. I went into a real store besides groceries for the first time yesterday and it was strange! Had a pedicure and all the manicurists were saying how awful everyone's hands and feet were!
We are also in the midst of a revolution that I hope will make a difference- lots of protests over the horrendous treatment of African Americans by our ever more militaristic police. Only this kind of pressure will make change but I fear nothing will happen until after November.
On a happier note, while in lockdown, I made lots of new kits!
This one is gorgeous - "Flamingo Paradise"- I love it!
My Alice kit is very popular, so I made a pastel version:
And this is Tranquil Lotus~ perfect for these unsettled times. All these are available on my etsy site, Moxymermaidplans...and my instagram has codes for sales all the time: IG @moxymermaid
With all this free time I made Mother's Day and Birthday cards for sale on my other etsy shop, Gwyn's Garden. I am loving the new Greetery releases this year, they are finally catching their stride. The 2nd one is Pink Fresh which I saw at Creativation this year and really like their new offerings also.
This last one is a Spellbinders Large Die of the month from last year and I still love it.
Much more to come~ thanks for dropping by!
Well, the unthinkable happened and both my wonderful trips got canceled. I am still in the stage where I think "well, today I would have been in Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi"..but that doesn't seem very helpful. Cases and deaths have spiraled exponentially especially in the US, which as I mentioned before, will not reflect well on our total lack of planning.
The world is still in the stage of "in 60 days, everything will go right back to what it was", like a rubber band. That may be wishful thinking as supply chains, travel industries and employment may never return to the old levels. I keep wondering if flights will be cut so far back that the price will be out of my reach.
I am also experiencing a strange phenomenon of having nothing to write in my planner because I was not supposed to be here! I always make a fun travel planner, but could not bear to keep and use again, so it has become the Covid-19 tracker.
Here is a brand new kit that I hope will cheer me up some...On sale this week in my Esty shop, just because!
I love the double box, it comes as a deco sheet with more girls and flowers- also in 2 skin tones.
I have to say the colors do raise my spirits which is saying a lot! To be waiting for 7 months each and every day to have 2 weeks with my son- only to have it go away 16 hours before flight time-well, that's a bitter pill. In the spirit of hope springs eternal, I have rebooked it for November and if things are still bad then, well we probably won't have electricity then, either.
I'll leave you with this card I made...Dang those flowers and leaves were hard to line up!
The world has changed and events are unfolding so fast that I think we as humanity have not realized it yet. What was a new disease on the other side of the world has ramped up and charged across almost every country. China and Italy have locked down 60 million people in their homes. Unfortunately America had time to prepare and have plans in place but it seems like they thought it couldn't happen here. Where Korea is currently testing 10,000 people a day, the US has completed 5,000 tests IN 60 DAYS! The stock market crashed and how are all those people in lockdown paying for their food if they can't work?
History will not look kindly on this and because non science is the new norm especially from those in power, bad information is king.
I thought at first there was a huge crazy over reaction, for as others are now mentioning, the flu kills more people each day than Convid-19 has total in the US. Now it seems a more virulent strain of virus, and is so highly contagious, but the weak, old and poor in health are most susceptible.
All of this is relevant to me as I have a very big vacation coming up next week and all of that looks like it could be in danger. I also had the most amazing cruise planned for April... 21 days- New York/Seattle through the Panama Canal at a steal because I booked last October. Now that ships are floating petri dishes and everyone I know is hucking me to cancel, that joy looks gone also. Several ships with two Princess ones being the most notorious have been blocked from ports and as you might imagine, a hotbed of infection.
So the only thing to do until I know what is happening to my life personally is to journal. I still fill out my planner religiously but since nothing is in my own control it seems futile.
This is a much softer and pale kit than my usual in-your-face style but it has grown on me and I really like it. Probably because it is rather calming it works but there you go. It is from Wild Summer Designs, who I have used several times in the past.
I love this Moxy Mermaid kit- "Buddha Zen", printed on that buttery soft premium matte. Feels so good to write on! This was last week's spread, when my trip was only a little in danger and I actually wrote vacation involved things in it. I needed all the calm I could get.
Nothing could be more Spring like than this gorgeous pink layout. Hmmm, I think on this week, Singapore had 128 cases and had closed their borders to flights from China, Thailand, Korea. I really should have been documenting each day but just like real life, you don't realize it is happening in the now.
Here's a card I am pretty happy with-makes me think of Naples and all those lemons. The current card style seems to have gotten away from pretty papers which I miss.
Last photo of the day, this is a fun card for realtors or just to wish a friend welcome to their new home. I sell these on eBay and also make lots for my realtor son. It's not an easy card but I like it. My next post will probably advise that we are all in lockdown and/or I either made it on my trip or pulled out my hair. It is a doozy- Here to Amsterdam, then catch Emirates Biz class to Singapore, then 4 days in Dubai. Nothing I haven't done, but going with number one son who picked this trip. We Shall See if the travel gods are willing....
I'm not really a pink person and don't think of myself as a girly girl but something about these candy fun images really makes me happy! This was last week's spread before the pen and I kept drooling over the pages all week...Moxy outdid herself!
It's chock full of pinky, sparkly goodness-and you know it will be full of "To Do" lists any second. Makes my heart happy! By the way, hope your Valentine's Day was special whether is was true love, gal or palentines.
Alert! I almost forgot- BIG SALE going on the Etsy shop til February 28- 30% off most! ( I was too lazy to select some of the little items, but hey! Most of the shop is on sale!
That's all for now- have a great week!
..and by that of course I mean Super Bowl Sunday. My Patriots were not in the big show this year but it meant I could watch the game and it not be a life or death situation. I know the Pats are coming to the end of an era and I am worried since I have enjoyed their amazing run for over 20 years. Sniff, sniff, all good things must come to an end- change is eternal. (wow, did that get deep fast)
Anywho, here is the "Love Cats" set from Moxy's store all planned out. Loads of cuteness, enjoy!
Hi! I am Moxy, a planner lovin', pen collecting, sticker crazy, daily creative paper addict ...probably just like you! Here I will share my spreads, ideas and newest releases from Etsy and we can have a great time. As with most obsessive hobbies, the fun starts to outrun the space and/or budget and a way must be forged to feed the frenzy-right? So my Etsy shop was born and I hope you will take a peek now and then. There is a coupon RIGHT NOW for 25% off sales $15 and over. Use "VALDISC" at check out and have fun seeing all the offerings!
Here's my latest, newest kit just perfect for Spring (as I write this, gale force winds are lashing the house and rain is pelting down). "Wild Iris" is a richly colored kit which even as a no white space spread still leaves tons of stickers left to use another day.
This is a brand new release for Cat Lovers everywhere that just happens to look like a wonderful Valentine spread too! The full kit is 6 pages but of course you can pick and choose the sheets that work best for you. My kits are made for Erin Condren/Recollections but with a little ingenuity will work just about anywhere.
My last new release is bright with pinks and aquas which could easily be a Valentine-y layout or just be a happy zingy spread for every day! I hope you stop by and see the shop- I am heading out next week to CREATIVATION, the largest wholesale crafting show in America, to see all the latest and greatest in the corporate paper/planning world.
Thanks for stopping by and see you again real soon! Moxy
